Finding Real Calm: Meditation, Energy, And Your Mind

I speak to so many people about this topic, and more than not, they talk about being tired. Not in the sense of "I can't wait to go to sleep", but in the sense of "I'm so tired, I wish I could crawl into bed and never come out again". It's understandable, really. Our lives are extremely busy, and we have to juggle many tasks in a day, and somewhere in there, we are also supposed to remember to take care of our spiritual selves by finding peace of mind through meditation practices.

Meditation and peace of mind are not exotic practices; they're more like an oil change for your spirit, something you have to do regularly so you can keep going.

It may be frustrating or seem almost impossible to fit in another meditation session into your day, but the fact that you're even considering it means you recognize it as necessary.

What Meditation Actually Does (No Fluff)

Let's get one thing straight, meditation practices will not solve all your problems, and if any practitioner says otherwise, they're probably scamming you. What meditation actually does is help your body to recognize and respond to stress properly

When you take some time to sit and be still, even if it's just for a couple minutes, you give your body a chance to lower your blood pressure and really relax. This can help you to slow down, and prevent the constant rushing that seems to be a part of everyday life. As meditation becomes a regular part of your routine, it helps to create a baseline for these things, meaning that even though bad stuff will still happen, your reactions to them will be less intense. There's nothing wrong with slowing down, even if just for a little bit.

Chakra Healing And Meditation, Together

This is where we get to the part where meditation and chakra healing work hand in hand. If your knowledge on this subject is limited to what I've just explained, that's fine, really. Chakra healing is really pretty simple, it's about the 7 main energy centers that you have in your body, and how they interact with each other. If you've ever felt anxious or had the feeling that there was some tension in your chest for no particular reason, you may be familiar with what chakra healing is all about. Chakra healing and meditation are two things that complement each other well, as you're given two sides of the same story. When you sit and meditate in combination with focusing on a particular chakra, you're not only helping to release the tension that's there, but you're also helping your body to reset itself. It's amazing how things like this work on such a small scale without you even really realizing it.

Small Daily Habits That Actually Stick

I'm going to be really honest with you here, and say that nobody has time for a two hour meditation practice every day.

In fact, it's really important to make sure you don't do things this way because when you put too much pressure on yourself to sit and meditate for hours upon hours every morning, it's easy to get discouraged and quit altogether.

You can fit small chunks of meditation into your everyday life, even if just five minutes of deep breathing here and there. This is one of those cases where an ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure. It's very easy to get discouraged when you first start practicing meditation, especially when you're spending an hour on it and it seems like nothing really happened. When you start to make these little moments of stillness and deep breathing part of your everyday life, you'll begin to feel the long term benefits of it all much more quickly.

Energy Healing Techniques: The Part People Get Skeptical About

I acknowledge that energy healing techniques are a bit of a controversial part of this routine, and it's completely fair to be skeptical of it. In all honesty, it's good to be skeptical, as there are a lot of shady practices in this space that will use you to get money out of you. Try to put your skepticism on pause for a second, and just take it at face value that there are techniques that help us to physically release the tension that our bodies hold onto.

Things like Reiki, Sound Healing, breathwork, and even placing a hand over your heart to do a little bit of self reflection fall under the umbrella of energy healing

You don't have to understand what it is that these techniques do on a physical or spiritual level in order to benefit from them, trust me, I was once very skeptical of these things until I had a rough few years and found myself able to sleep through the night again, which was a miracle compared to the state I was in prior. These things work both physically and spiritually, and there's a reason that they affect us in these ways.

The Mind-Body Connection Nobody Talks About Enough

The mind-body connection is something that is rarely spoken about, but it's something that we all experience. It's the way you tense up when you're stressed, or the way your stomach knots itself up when you're anxious. Energy healing techniques work on this connection, and help us to better understand it. This understanding is extremely important for many reasons, and we may not always be cognizant of it at first. It works on the principle that calming the body also calms the mind, sometimes with surprising results.

Building Your Own Foundation For Inner Peace

The way to your own inner peace is going to look a little bit different for everybody, and that's okay.

There's nothing wrong with doing daily seated mediation as a way to get there. There's nothing wrong with working out as a form of meditation in combination with things like energy healing, either.

It's the doing of it regularly rather than the type that matters most. Making a foundation for your inner peace doesn't happen because of one big life changing meditation session, it happens because you do a few little things every day even when you don't feel like it.

These little things are really what build up your resilience to the stress that you can't escape, and help you to better manage the things that are truly important in life.

Wrapping It Up: Give It Time

If I could say one thing to people about meditation, it would be that they shouldn't rush it. It's easy to want to dive in and try to get into a meditation groove as soon as you can, but the fact is that it's a process. There are going to be days where you feel like nothing even happens, and some weeks where you feel like you've changed profoundly. It's an equal parts physical and mental journey and it's important to be patient throughout the entire process. If you're finding that it's difficult to get into a good meditation headspace, you could always try some chakra healing and energy healing as a nice complement. This way, you can take the meditation practice at your own pace, without putting too much pressure on yourself.
